OEE in the mattress industry

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is one of the most powerful practices a manufacturer can implement. Understanding machine performance and workflow metrics can give you the data you need to make the most of your daily capacity. Without OEE, a manufacturer make record the amount of materials and labor on hand at the beginning of the day and see how much finished goods leave at the end of the day, but unique machine performance at any point throughout the day remains a bit of a mystery.

Global Systems Group has introduced a new system called Greenlight XT to help mattress producers implement OEE. Most OEE systems require heavy machine programming and complex computer systems to integrate into your existing machine fleet. Greenlight XT can be plugged into your machines without such invasive programming.

The operational data of each machine can be accessed from machine-mounted tablets, a centralized PC, or any mobile device with internet access.

Greenlight XT: the more you know, the more you can grow!

Step up to the plate with GSG

It's baseball Spring Training time in Florida. A time to prepare for a team's future success. Mattress manufacturers can benefit from this same concept and the GSG booth at ISPA EXPO is a great place to assess your capabilities and develop successful strategies.

Do you have all your bases covered?
The GSG booth is filled with over 35 mattress manufacturing systems including 19 that have never been showed by GSG or have significant modifications.
> Quilting
> Semi-auto flange machines
> Engineered Borders
> Specialty Bed production
> Tape Edge
> Packaging
> Material handling systems
> OEE efficiency systems
> Gigantic baseball bobble heads
(OK, that last one may not improve your manufacturing efficiency, but it's worth a look!)

Packed to the rafters in the GSG booth

It was a packed house on Day 1 in the GSG booth at ISPS EXPO!

There was new mattress manufacturing equipment filling the booth the rafters - literally!

GSG is partnering with ETON SYSTEMS in the mattress industry to help you make a more efficient, more profitable workflow. The system in the booth automatically retrieves quilted panels from the panel cutter behind Gribetz quilters, carries it overhead to the Porter EST-501 flanger, and then carries it all to a tape edge operation.

We're raising the roof - well at least the factory floor is being raised - in the GSG booth at ISPA EXPO!

Answering the call of innovation

On this day in 1876 Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the telephone. He went on to enjoy innovation immortality, but his fate was secured within a narrow window of fortunate timing.

"...Bell’s patent filing beat a similar claim by Elisha Gray by only two hours. Not wanting to be shut out of the communications market, Western Union Telegraph Company employed Gray and fellow inventor Thomas A. Edison to develop their own telephone technology. Bell sued, and the case went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld Bell’s patent rights. In the years to come, the Bell Company withstood repeated legal challenges to emerge as the massive American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) and form the foundation of the modern telecommunications industry..."

The GSG booth at ISPA EXPO will be filled with innovation that could shape your company's future and now is the time to act on it. There will be remote manufacturing technology, tablet-based quilter operations, and revolutionary material handling systems.

See this and much, much more in GSG Booth 2147. Like Bell, beat your competition and get there first!

That's a lot of cargo!

CMA CGM Will Operate Six ‘Mega-Ships’ to U.S. West Coast

"...Putting new vessels—particularly some of the largest container ships ever built—into service today puts CMA CGM at odds with other large steamship lines, which generally have been curtailing service amid a capacity glut and plummeting shipping rates..."

This shipping giant's decision increase its use of these giant ships may contradict logistics economists' analysis, but it's happening. They are increasing more lines between Asia and the US and due to a glut of capacity shipping rates are falling. That may be bad business for the shipping industry, but that means trade between the US and Asia is more lucrative than ever.

Is that good news or bad news for your business?

If you're in the mattress industry you'll want to know what's being installed in the GSG booth at ISPA EXPO next week. The behemoth truss work going up here is part of a system that will make your mattress production more efficient than ever. You can take advantage of that increased efficiency to compete with those imports or grow your production to fill some space of your own on those outbound ships!

Visit the GSG Booth 2147 at ISPA EXPO to see this and many more mattress manufacturing systems that increase your production and efficiency.
